Photojournalism at Ullstein in Berlin
Established in 1877, the Ullstein photographic collection was the source of a wide variety of photo publications for the Berlin-based Ullstein publishing house. In the 1920s, the media company became Europe's leading newspaper and magazine publisher. The imperial era, the Weimar Republic, and—after the expropriation of the Ullstein family—National Socialism and the period of exile continue to shape various parts of the collection by renowned photographers to this day. The one-hour guided tour provides an insight into the collection. Using selected examples, it conveys the context and background of this unique collection and its history full of twists and turns.
