China Citizens Movement – Past Present and Future
The speaker of the event is the wife of the current political prisoner, human rights lawyer Ding Jiaxi, one of the main leaders of the China Citizens’ movement, she has been fighting for the release of her husband as well as other Chinese political prisoners for over 12 years.
She well understands and fully supports the civil society construction ideas that had been practiced by legal scholar Dr. Xu Zhiyong and lawyer Ding Jiaxi in China during 2013-2014 and 2017-2019. Both Xu and Ding have been put in prison during 2014-2017 due to their peaceful advocacy of the constitutional China though calling for a series of civic engagement activities centered on freedom, social justice, and love. After they served their first sentence, both men resumed their advocacy and this time they worked on their cause even more cautiously and privately, However, in 2019 and 2020, both men forcibly disappeared for 6 and 4 months after they participated in a private gathering in Xiamen, China.
In this event, the speaker will present the key actions advocated during the China Citizens movement and let you know how Chinese authorities wrote the Democracy, Freedom and Human Rights in the Chines constitution, but they never respect any constitution and laws, they can send anyone into the detention and torture only if they wanted, China is a regime without any rule of law.
The speaker drew the conclusion from her experience and observation that: the autocracy is the root cause of the Chinese human rights abusiveness, and the autocracy must be removed in order to build a constitutional China. The speaker determined to continue the citizens’ movement outside China to facilitate the removal of the autocracy and she founded a new non-profit organization working on this cause.
The location for the event will be shortly announced.
