DIE HEXEN VON BERNAU – Von Feindbildern, Justizversagen und einem Verbrechen gegen die Menschheit
A wave of persecution began in Bernau bei Berlin in 1617, during which many innocent people—primarily women—were accused of witchcraft. One of these women was 70-year-old local resident Dorothea Meermann. Arrested on charges of sorcery—a fate that had already befallen two previous generations of her family—she was subjected to repeated torture over the course of more than two years. Drawing on extensive historical research and real-life stories, we bring to life an era that bears striking parallels to our own modern times. Immerse yourself in a story where narratives carry more weight than facts and the powerful are always right.
