Frau Minister
“Frau Minister” follows the life story of Dr. Marie Torhorst and examines women in positions of power in East and West.
The play explores gender parity, emancipation, and women’s pursuit of power within two distinct systems of government and values. It is an examination of the communist utopia extending into the controversial present. It offers a portrait of Germany’s first female minister, set against the backdrop of her own Western biography. What does a woman need to stay in power?
The actress creates artistic and political performances in unique venues, combines the performing arts with socially relevant themes, leads play development projects with both amateur and professional actors, and appears on stage herself in international productions.
An evening featuring texts by the Torhorst Women, the Stasi Records Archive, Ödön von Horváth, Alfred Döblin, Simone de Beauvoir, Christa Wolf, and Hendrik Bolz.
