Life Stories Live with Faravaz Farvardin
Faravaz Farvardin at Polyrama: The singer and activist was born in Tehran in 1990. As a musician, she sang solo in public in Iran, was arrested for doing so, and eventually left the country to rebuild her life in Berlin.
Today, Faravaz combines English-language alternative pop with R&B production and Persian melodies. Her music moves between bodies, borders and the question of who is allowed to exist in public. Her debut album “Azadi” was released in 2025, followed by the FLINTA- and queer-led EP “Butterfly” in 2026. Her new EP “Saffron” is out now.
Faravaz founded The Right to Sing e.V., an organisation that supports women musicians whose voices have been silenced by their governments. Her life is also the subject of the documentary “My Orange Garden”, which streams on The New Yorker.
In Life Stories Live, Faravaz shares her life story, her music and her journey towards freedom and singing freely as an Iranian woman.
