Stolen History: Film and discussion with Kyiv director Olesia Nohina

The screening of the historical documentary drama ʼYaroslav the Wiseʼ invites audiences to rediscover the true origins of Ukrainian statehood, long overshadowed by Russian imperial myths. Through the story of Grand Prince Yaroslav and his far-reaching European alliances, the film highlights Ukraine’s deep historical ties to Europe. 

After the screening, director Olesia Nohina and historian Andrew Fesiak will join a discussion moderated by ARD correspondent Birgit Virnich on reclaiming historical truth as a key element of Ukraine’s freedom and resilience amid Russia’s ongoing war and propaganda.
