Caution, Restricted Area! Along the Potsdam Border Strip
“No one intends to build a wall!” – and yet it came, dividing Germany. The restricted zones shaped the urban landscape of Potsdam during the Cold War. The border ran directly through what is today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This tour offers a fascinating journey through the era of division.
Participants will hear gripping accounts of border crossers and spies. The route leads from the Glienicke Bridge, also known as the “Bridge of Spies”, along the former German-German border through Neuer Garten to the former border checkpoint at the Bertini-Enge.
