TikTok Islamism: Why We Must Not Leave Our Youth to the Radicals
Islamist actors have conquered social media as a recruitment space. With professionally produced short videos, they reach young people on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, promising them identity, belonging and simple answers. Psychologist and extremism expert Ahmad Mansour experiences this radicalization as the daily reality of his prevention work in schools, in feeds and in forums.
In his new book »Haltung ohne Hass. Eine Aufforderung« (»Resolve Without Hatred. A Call to Action«; Berlin Verlag, September 2026), he analyzes how conspiracy narratives, populism and digital disinformation take hold of young people. He also shows, drawing on concrete examples, where prevention is already succeeding and what schools, politics and civil society must do now. His plea: to start talking to each other again, including with those who think differently.
In a 90-minute conversation with science author Jürgen Neffe (moderator), Mansour presents the central theses of his book and opens the discussion to the audience.
